Transdisciplinary Perspectives on Just Transition in Mobility and Energy Policies is the topic of BOLSTER’s 9th regional policy dialogue. It will take place online on Thursday, 15 May 2025, from 10:00 – 12:30 CEST.
Organised by ECAS under the BOLSTER project, in cooperation with our sister project and fellow member of the #JustTransitionCluster, TANDEM HEU, this policy dialogue will explore how innovative, inclusive and transdisciplinary methodologies can support not only effective climate action, but also ensure fairness in the distribution of benefits and burdens – particularly in the mobility and energy sectors.
In this context, ECAS and BOLSTER partners are hosting a series of regional and EU-level dialogues to strengthen the link between scientific knowledge, policy development, and inclusive stakeholder engagement. The 9th regional dialogue will centre on transdisciplinary perspectives on Just Transition in the mobility and energy sectors, with the aim of ensuring that no one is left behind.
Why join?
This policy dialogue will explore how innovative, inclusive and cross-sectoral approaches can support climate action while promoting fairness in the distribution of benefits and burdens. Through methods such as deliberative visioning, art-based approaches, system mapping, and assessment tools, speakers will present successful examples of how inclusive policy design can be achieved.
Particular attention will be given to the results of the TANDEM project, which co-develops Just Transition pathways in energy and mobility across five European regions, and to how its deliberative methodologies can inform and inspire inclusive policymaking at regional and local levels.
Objectives:
- Identify strengths, weaknesses, challenges and opportunities in current Just Transition initiatives and stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Highlight best practices from EU-funded “sister” projects and regional case studies, providing practical guidelines and strategic recommendations for public authorities, NGOs, trade unions and grassroots organisations.
Speakers:
- Mag. Dr. Michael Klinger, BOKU, Austria
- Dr. Maria Luisa Lode, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium
- Dr. Samyajit Basu, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium
- Dr. Seona Candy, Demos Helsinki, Finland
Discussant:
- Dr. Steffi Formann, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany (TBC)
The agenda will be published shortly. Stay connected through BOLSTER and ECAS social media channels for updates.
