The impact of the Green Deal on marginalized communities is the topic of research under a project carried out by scientists from the University of National and World Economy in Sofia. They have been working on it since 2022. and is a joint project with 12 European institutions.

The most general information that was shared by Assoc. Dr. Alexander Stoyanov from the Department of Economic Sociology points out that the people who fall into these groups are not ready for change. They do not want to lose jobs, but “frankly” they are afraid of changes, commented Assoc. Das. Those groups that fall within the scope of the project are Roma, women and youth.

The main attitude is not to change anything, the younger of them would try to retrain, but the older, over 40-45 years, are ready to look for work abroad, because the economic conditions would be better for them.
More information and presentation of the results of the study can be heard in the audio file from the interview with Assoc. Alexander Stoyanov on Bulgarian National Radio: https://bnr.bg/starazagora/post/101971222
