On the 24 and 25th of October, the BOLSTER team from Tilburg University has attended the Just Transition Platform Conference in Brussels. The 6th edition of this event has brought together the members of the EU Commission and representatives of different institutions from the just transition (JT) regions. Together they exchanged the best practices in developing the JT plans and discussed the challenges anticipated at the implementation phase. How to protect the most vulnerable communities as we go through the transition? This question was central, especially because this group is fast growing in light of the accelerating energy poverty. Even though the regions are very different in challenges they face and solutions they found, one thing everyone agreed upon – the transition is about people, and we need to make sure that the voices of those on the frontline of the climate crisis are heard and included.
