On December 8th of 2022 a conference was held in Katowice (Silesia) to mark the launch of the EU funding 2021-2027 for this Polish region. The Operational Programme “European Funds for Silesia” includes the Territorial Just Transition Plan.
Normunds Poppens – Deputy Director General for Regional and Urban Policy of the European Commission – expressed his satisfaction with how Polish mining regions have approached the European Green Deal. He officially handed the Commission Implementing Decision approving the Programme for support from the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund Plus and the Just Transition Fund (CCI 2021PL16FFPR012).
Prof. Adam Drobniak, the researcher in BOLSTER and advisor in the TJTP elaboration, chaired one of the conference sessions. His panel focused on the socio-economic challenges of the Green Deal.
