On Monday, May 15, 2023, at the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, as part of the project BOLSTER, the first meeting of the Local Just Transition Alliances was held, entitled “JUST TRANSITION IN THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES”.
The goal of the meeting was to bring together the key stakeholders in the just transition process in Croatia. The main stakeholders included representatives of the European Commission, the European Investment Bank, the Ministry of Regional Development and EU funds, regional coordinators for European programs and funds of Istria and Sisak-Moslavina County, the Foundation for the Promotion of Partnership and Development of Civil Society, representatives of the City of Labin, representatives of local self-government units of Istria (Municipality of Raša, Kršan, Sveta Nedelja) and representatives of the private sector – the company Holcim.
During the meeting, experiences were shared and potential solutions to the challenges of communicating between the public and private sectors and representatives of marginalized communities involved in a just transition. The overall conclusion of the meeting was that no one should be left behind in order to facilitate a successful just transition in the target regions.
